What is Makar Sankranti?
Makar Sankranti is a Hindu festival. It is celebrated in the month of January, It was the day which marks the shift of the sun. It is celebrated for prosperity and peace. On this day everyone flies kites because it is a sign that the sun is back. Now harvest season is approaching.
We should avoid something on Makar Sankranti that is. we should eat food or breakfast after bathing on this day, Don’t fly kites near bird nest, keep your child and yourself away from intoxication.
Food items which are made in Makar Sankranti?
A delicious and many sweet dishes are made on Makar Sankranti like, Dahi choor gur, malpua, patishapta, Milk poli, coconut gujiya, payasam, kheer, peanut chikki, gajjak, masala vada, tilgul, til poli.
75 gram of all-purpose flour, 30 gram of semolina, 10-gram rice grains, a pinch of salt, 280-gram milk, 30-gram sugar and for greasing 5-gram ghee or oil. For patishapta kheer- 1 & 1/2 kg milk, 1 teaspoon all-purpose flour, 65-gram sugar.
For patishapta batter:- Firstly add rice into the grinder and make powder-like rice flour. Then take a bowl on that add all-purpose flour, semolina, rice flour, sugar, a pinch of salt, and milk. Now mix all the ingredients together you can also increase the quantity. Then cover the batter and put into aside and rest for 2-3 hours.
Now let’s prepare patishapta kheer:- For filling patishapta make a tasty kheer. Take 1 & 1/2 kg milk and boil it, after bubbling add sugar and continuously stirring. Boil Milk at list 80-90 minutes in medium flame. When our milk is thick then take all-purpose flour and 1 tablespoon of milk make a past. Now add into thick milk again cook for 5 minutes and stir. Then allow kheer to room temperature.
Now let’s make Patishapta:- For Making patishapta divide kheer in equal portions into small size. Now after 2-3 minutes stir batter for 2 minutes. Heat a pan(use a non-stick pan) than grace ghee or oil(grace ver light) in a pan. Then with the help of a ladle drop batter in the centre of the pan. Now swirl it and make an oval shape cook only one side after 1 min put kheer into patishapta then roll it and flatten it with your fingers. Remove from pan make all batter in the same way. Now our patishapta is ready to taste. Serve with payesham.
